Airport Facility

  • Full Instrument Landing System (ILS) on Runway 13 and back course on Runway 31 with remote controlled high intensity runway lighting.

  • Dual instrumentation system works in inclement weather to guide a pilot safely to the ground using a glide slope and localizer.  The Chisholm-Hibbing Airport will be the first airport in the world without a control tower to use such a system.

  • The 6,750 foot-long main runway is comparable to the Minneapolis and Duluth Airports.

  • The Airport supports three 12-unit hangers with parallel taxi ways.

  • The Airport is serviced by Northwest Airlink turbo prop flights.

  • The Airport public parking can support 150 vehicles with no parking fee regardless if your stay is a few minutes or several days.

Chisholm / Hibbing Airport Authority
The Chisholm/Hibbing Airport Authority provides airport planning services to the Chisholm/Hibbing Airport.  Meetings are held the third Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. at the Airport.

 

Economic Development is designed into the Airport

  • Taconite Aviation offers charter airplane services and airplane maintenance.

  • TNT Airworks, LLC, provides aircraft maintence services.

  • A 150-acre parcel of land has been identified as the new Airport Industrial Park.

  • City gas, water, and sewer utilities have been extended out to the Airport Industrial Park for future business expansion.

  • A 10,000 square foot Arrowhead Aviation building with runway access is available for lease.

  • 323 acres of Airport property have been designated as a Jobz Zone, exempting businesses who locate there from property and state income taxes.

  • A 2 inch gas line (50 PSI) was extended to the Airport in 1995.

  • Minnesota Power supplies the site with a 25 KVA distribution line, the power could be stepped down to 480 / 277 volts as required.
